Yoga Lab is committed to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusivity in yoga. We recognize that there are inequities in the systems that surround yoga, and we want to do what we can to create an equitable and inclusive yoga environment at Yoga Lab. One of the best ways we can do that is to support the training of new teachers from underrepresented communities in order to amplify a diverse range of voices in yoga teaching.

Yoga Lab has a limited number of FULL scholarships ($2,680 value) available for this purpose.

Scholarship Eligibility:

This scholarship is intended for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) and/or LGBTQ applicants who are interested in teaching yoga. All are welcome to apply, but priority for these scholarships will be given to local (Central Pennsylvania) applicants who are also interested in teaching at our Yoga Lab Studio space in State College, PA, when in-person classes can safely resume.

Testimonials

“The Teacher Training program at Yoga Lab was both scholarly in its approach to anatomy, philosophy, and sequencing, as well as humanistic and practical in the ways this knowledge can inform our journey as a teacher; it was refreshingly pragmatic in its approach and always positive. There is no doubt I have a strong, foundational base upon which to build my teaching going forward.”

Scott B., Graduated May 2020

“The Yoga Lab teachers are kind, thoughtful, creative, engaging, supportive, and informed. During yoga teacher training, they led us skillfully through a challenging time, converting to online learning with a positive and encouraging attitude. I have the highest respect for my teachers and classmates and treasure the personal and professional growth…and my new friends.”

Christina P., Graduated May 2020

“The teachers are incredibly knowledgable and helpful. The training is comprehensive, professional, organized, and fun. Anatomy and teaching training are above and beyond. I’m convinced this is the best yoga studio in the country!”

Jennifer P., Graduated May 2020

“This was an amazing training with top notch teachers. I loved the comprehensive anatomy lessons and the explanations of functional movement, the yoga philosophy and history of yoga discussions with a Penn State professor specializing in those fields, the mindfulness practices, the strength-building, the sangha-building… An excellent, well-balanced training that I would recommend to anyone.”

Testimonials

“I had an absolutely wonderful experience with the Yoga Lab 200 Hour RYT teacher training! I feel confident in my abilities to safely teach yoga, thanks to the depth of knowledge I gained from this training. The instructors were knowledgeable, attentive, and caring. This program was a life changing experience!”

Courtney L., Graduated Fall 2018

“It was a fantastic in-depth training. Excellent instructions in anatomy, physiology, asana, evidence based research in yoga, philosophy, teaching skills, breath work, and meditation. One of the best experiences I had. The YTT at Yoga Lab has touched and transformed my life.”

Sima F., Graduated Summer 2017

“The training provides in-depth understanding on yoga anatomy, philosophy, asanas, teaching skills, meditation and breathing practice. Throughout the training, I felt every class and every homework I did were just like building blocks, which created a solid foundation for my future yoga career. I like the way how the teachers incorporate the teaching skill since the beginning of the training. I felt that I learned so many things. I’m so proud and grateful to be part of this supportive yoga community!”

Miaosi Z., Graduated Fall 2018

“I have already recommended this training to many people, and will continue to do so. Yoga Lab is the best studio I’ve attended and I’m so grateful for my training there. Much Love!”

Morgan K., Graduated Summer 2017
“One of the basic reasons many people take up yoga is to change something about themselves: to be able to think more clearly, to feel better, and to be able to act better today than they did yesterday in all areas of life. In these endeavors yoga can be of great help, and it requires no prerequisites that must be fulfilled before we set out on this path.”
T.K.V. Desikachar, The Heart of Yoga
“The work of cultivating mindfulness is also play. It is far too serious to take too seriously—and I say this in all seriousness!—if for no other reason than because it really is about our entire life. It makes sense for a lightness of being and playfulness to be key elements of the practice of mindfulness, because they are key elements of well-being.”
John Kabat-Zinn, Mindfulness for Beginners
